Can The Car Shock Absorber Work Properly? Teach You Four Common Inspection Methods

- Feb 28, 2019 -

Shock absorbers are very important for driving on rough and rugged roads. Automobile shock absorbers are generally installed on the car suspension system. If the shock absorbers are not working properly, the life of the parts of the car will be reduced, and the stability of the car will be greatly reduced. People will also feel that the bumps are quite uncomfortable. Remind everyone to check if the shock absorber is working properly before going out, especially when the long-distance road has to go through more uneven roads.

Here's how to check the efficiency of the shock absorber:

1. First, you can drive at a low speed, then brake suddenly. If you find that the car is shaking more and the body feels uncomfortable, then the shock absorber has a problem.

2. Press the bumper firmly and release it. If the car has 2~3 jumps, the shock absorber works well.

3. Let the car stop after driving for 10km on the road with poor road conditions, and touch the shock absorber shell by hand. If it is not hot enough, there is no resistance inside the shock absorber, and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, the appropriate lubricating oil can be added, and then the test is carried out. If the outer casing is heated, the inside of the shock absorber is lacking in oil, and sufficient oil should be added; otherwise, the shock absorber is invalid.

4. Remove the shock absorber and erect it, and clamp the lower end connecting ring on the vise. Pull the damping rod several times. At this time, there should be stable resistance. The resistance to pull up should be greater than when pressing down. Resistance, such as unstable resistance or no resistance, may be due to lack of oil inside the shock absorber or damage to the valve parts. Repair or replacement of parts should be performed.

Oil leakage is one of the causes of the malfunction of the shock absorber. If there is no oil leakage in the shock absorber, check the shock absorber connection pin, connecting rod, connecting hole, rubber bushing, etc. for damage, desoldering, cracking or falling off. If the above inspection is normal, the shock absorber should be further decomposed to check whether the matching clearance between the piston and the cylinder is too large, whether there is a strain in the cylinder, whether the valve seal is good, whether the valve flap and the valve seat are tightly attached, and Whether the tension spring of the shock absorber is too soft or broken, and repair or repair according to the situation.

If the shock of the shock absorber is found, this is mainly caused by the shock absorber colliding with the leaf spring, the frame or the shaft, the rubber pad is damaged or dropped, the shock absorber dust cylinder is deformed, and the oil is insufficient.

The above four methods can effectively test whether the shock absorber works normally. For the first method, it is best to use less, because often the brakes are often caused by damage to the brake system. The second method is recommended by the bumper method. And it is very convenient and the effect is obvious. Before the usual long distance, you should also check whether the shock absorber is leaking. If it is, it will also cause the malfunction of the shock absorber in the middle of the road.
